Windows update messed up my computer

I saw this thing in the notification center that said something about a windows update. I can't remember exactly what it said or looked like. But I clicked on it and let it update and do it's thing.

Then when it was done. I set the computer to restart and update. When it updated and restarted I started to have problems like the start menu refused to come up. And I could not start task manager. Task manager would just get a timeout error after a bit of waiting. I could not do anything from the taskbar except open file explorer. I tried waiting for 20mins and that didn't work. So I tried restarting a couple of times and that did not work.

Then I tried holding the shift key and restarting from the log in menu to try resetting it with a restore point and there was no restore points? I know I made restore points before the troubles started to occur?

So the thing that fixed it was this option to revert to a previous version of windows.

In that menu that I got up from holding the shift key at windows login and restarting the computer.

This is a brand new computer I bought from Costco.

I would really like feedback from you. And want to know what you think?

Is it happening to a lot of other people? Or just me so far?

I really hope you can give me a good answer that would make me feel better about the whole thing!

I kinda freaked out and thought... what if I got a lemon! :)

My Lenovo was messed up after windows update. First it took me to the keyboard set up over and over again and was in a loop, when it finally did load windows it can't find my desktop and none of the features work like internet, ext so I can't use any features and my computer isn't even going into safe mode or booting into the bios now before windows starts. I am so over windows. My computer was working fine before this update and called Lenovo and they want to charge for tech support. This is disgusting. I am thinking about switching over to another OS if I can't figure this out. Any other suggestions besides the trouble shooter, it wont' work. Nothing works. I can't even get into my bios.

Why I would upgrade may whole computer set only for the sake of windows 10 work properly !!! I have a 2012 desktop and recently in 2015 bought a SSD, 16GB of ram and a NVidia Video Graphics Card.

It worked well with windows 7 but since I installed windows 10, every time it does a mess and blocks when it comes to mandatory updates.

That's what I was thinking. Every time windows 10 want to do the f**** update, it blocks several time and I had to turn off - turn on the computer. But the real problem is the mayor mandatory updates.

I had to format my computer once so I can download the updated windows 10, because the update went in to a infinite cycle of " restoring your previous windows version - then trying to update again - then blocking - then restoring your previous version - " and going on and on and on ...

And it starting happening today .... and the crappy linux or mac its not a option for me

I feel your pain. I can't even get to the restore points that I had created. This is the exact thing that is happening to me. I am going to have to start over with Windows 7.
