Amazon Device randomly showing up on Network.

Original question:

I've got a random Amazon KFAUWI device showing up on my network as a device beside my driver for my router. Can anyone help? I am sure it is not a device in my house, as everything is set to something we've done or one of our names. Can anyone tell me if i'm stupid or if this is a general happening?

    Hi Chelle,  

    No problem see instructions with screenshots below.  I am assuming you are running Windows 10 as a normal user (not Administrator).   

    1 Press the Win

    • R keys to open the Run dialog.

    2 Type what (ex: "services.msc") you want to run into the Run dialog.

    3 Either press the CTRL

    • Shift
    • Enter keys OR press CTRL
    • Shift and click/tap on OK.

    You will be prompted for the Administrator password, once you enter it the Services dialog will open.

    4 Scroll down until you see Windows Connect Now - Config Register

    5 Double click on service name

    6 Change Startup type to Disabled and click Apply

    7 Exit Services and restart your computer.   You should no longer see the phantom devices in Network.

    actually I never thought I could actually help someone but somebody told me it was people looking for a hotspot connection a safe one and that’s why it doesn’t show up actually with a IP address it’s just a MAC address because they’re searching for a secure wifi connection and they said if you turn off your WPS you wouldn’t get you wouldn’t see those anymore. No I’m just calling somebody that answered my question which was the very same question that I asked Microsoft community not that long ago.

    oh my God thank you so much I will try that I didn’t even know I had this comment to read LOL see I get so scared and I start to panic when I think you know that somebody might get all of the personal information I’ve had some past history with getting a malware and somebody in my router address so I’m really paranoid thank you so much for taking the time to explain that to me I appreciate your kindness. I have a picture if I could show you I’m not working and I’m not going to school like somebody suggested that’s what it was but could you look at this picture and maybe tell me how how to proceed with it? I don’t want to touch it but it’s got access to my Google Drive
