Amazon Device randomly showing up on Network.

Original question:

I've got a random Amazon KFAUWI device showing up on my network as a device beside my driver for my router. Can anyone help? I am sure it is not a device in my house, as everything is set to something we've done or one of our names. Can anyone tell me if i'm stupid or if this is a general happening?

    After spending some time looking into this I have come to the conclusion its an Amazon service built into several of their products (FireTV device, FireTV built into TV, Kindle, Alexa, Echo, Alexa app, etc...) that identifies your exact location without using the common Location Services of your device (be it phone, PC, etc.).

    Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple, etc. use a service that takes a snapshot of your wireless / wired network to zero in on location by cataloging your network plus any nearby network resources that your network can reach.

    Doing this with your network and your neighbors network and their neighbors and their neighbors, etc. allows them to create a very accurate map of your location (capturing all the MAC addresses on your network plus ISP provided IP plus nearby MAC addresses makes it pretty easy to generate a map).

    Stored in a database and updated when the service runs gives them your location (and a few other details) even when you have your local location service disabled, obscured or even if you try to fake your location.

    Mine is called suez.

    even if you don't own any Amazon product directly many devices include Amazon apps. Whether you signup for the actual service, if the app is present its collecting data.

    again, EVERY tech company is doing something similar.

    Amazon/Google make ZERO apps for customers. They make apps that collect data for their profit.

    have a wired computer to network but sometimes use wireless to run laptop and android every time i turn on wireless i get the same thing but  different device names as soon as i turn off wireless it disappears or some times i click it to check and it leaves also
