Amazon Device randomly showing up on Network.

Original question:

I've got a random Amazon KFAUWI device showing up on my network as a device beside my driver for my router. Can anyone help? I am sure it is not a device in my house, as everything is set to something we've done or one of our names. Can anyone tell me if i'm stupid or if this is a general happening?

    More detailed explanation of what is happening:

    I have come across the same issue on multiple networks, both as phantom Computers and phantom Phones. 

    It is caused by a combination of WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup Config) setting on your router and (Windows Connect Now - Config Registrar) service on your PC.

    Disabling either will make the phantoms go away.  I suggest disabling both especially if your are not using them.

    Turning off 'Alexa' solved this problem for us too. I put it on a remote control switch so my wife could listen to music but then turn if off otherwise. Alexa listens continuously and records all that she can hear. A recent murder was solved by listening to recordings from the victim's home made by Alexa.

    I am fairly confident that it is put into one's network via an android cell phone application.  It recently showed up as a Network device named   douglas ,  manufacturer: Amazon     Model KFDOWI   .  When my wife was gone for the day having taken her Cell phone the device no longer showed up when I clicked on my Network.  When she returned a new device showed up on my network.  It had a different manufacturer, different Name,  different model number but " Cell phone " appeared in unique identifier.

    I might add that her Cell phone is able to connect to the internet via WiFi which my router has.  

    This makes me wonder if some App got installed on her phone which is able to record phone numbers and other date from her cell phone and then transmit it to 'home' whenever an internet connection via WiFi is established.

    I don't have an Echo, or anything like it, I'm not a Comcast subscriber (I'm in the UK), my PC is bespoke, and have had one of these spurious devices both before and after doing a complete reinstallation. I am currently blessed with a 'suez'.

    I have a "suez" today.  Other names have popped up recently with similar Amazon info ("mantis" was one).
