Windows 10 1709 freeze randomly

Same here! Freezes at 54%! Before dism... and scannow... stopped at 36% or 53%. Since the fixes it goes reliably up to 54%! Great Job MS.

This issue goes around since ... right! Fall!!!! Should be a solid half year now! And still this huge crowd of programmers couldn't fix it?!?! Or is reluctant to fix it? Like in pharmaceutical industry: too few people having a desease -> no one starts research!

Is that it? Are we a minority here? Then just tell us and we'll switch OS! Promise!

I for sure wouldn't go to MAC, for me it would be Linux which I am using right now to write you these few lines. Funny enough the 1709 worked fine on the same machine under Linux 14.04 and in Virtualbox! Just the native install doesn't work.

Same here. Three devices, three HP laptops (one intel, two AMD). Also a Lynx tablet which seems now not to freeze following a BIOS fix released specifically to stop the tablet turning itself on and draining battery. All suggested fixes for Laptops tried with no success. I have noticed however, that both AMD devices do not freeze after rebooting (hard reset via power button that is).

Would be nice to see a fix for this, been an MS OS user since Win 3.11, and currently only use MS OS and Office 365 (even have a Win phone), otherwise I will have no choice but to switch to Mac OS. 

The fact that the AMDs don't freeze after rebooting suggests that they might be good candidates for the "disable fast start" fix. Wonder if you have tried that particular fix? My AMD desktop has not frozen once in five weeks since I did that. (Previously freezing multiple times per week).

I completely agree. I disabled a fast start and I no longer hang.

Yes, turning off fast startup seems (at the moment) to have solved the problem on my AMD devices at least. Waiting 2-3 minutes for full boot is not a problem for me, for others it may be inconvenient! thanks.

After about a year of windows freezing during the install of 1709, I finally found a flawless reason! I finally upgraded my power supply from 500w to 1000w and it upgraded without a single freeze up! Hope this helps! I also upgraded my video card from nvidia geforce 660 to gtx 1050ti. Although, it wouldn't work without the power supply. I am currently using the Asus cm6730 tower for reference. It has the original I7-3770 3.7 ghz  processor. So without a doubt, windows 10 version 1709 will not install with a 500w power supply.

It's quite amusing how Microsoft workers reply to issues:

a) Are you using Microsoft Windows?

b) Have you installed Office instead of LibreOffice?

c) Did you accesss the Accessibility tab and turned on high constrast so the freeze can stop?

d) After these steps can you make even sure you have a computer?

Man... this is insane.

I confirm the lock up on a fresh 1709 install - 100% working hardware, SSDs perfect everything perfect.

1703 was robust as a rock for over a year without a single crash.

4 days after fresh 1709 install and got one big lockup. RESET.

Disabled Fast Start Up. Let's see if this helps. 

I will be reporting if this will keep crashing... Should crash in about 5 days or less.
