Windows 10 1709 freeze randomly

I same problem!!

Disabled the quick start don't functionnaly for me.

I reset Windows 10 pro 1709 and the same. :(

If you go into Windows Update settings, advanced options, you can delay the features updates which 1709 is, for 365 days...

BTW I am using an ASUS M5A99FX Pro 2.0 motherboard. That wouldn't be the same as you would it?

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me. There is no such setting under Windows Update in 1703. I downloaded another utility that was supposed to do this but it went and installed 1709 anyway. I found this out after holding off on updating to 1709 for the fourth time when I got a message saying that an Organization had scheduled a restart of my pc at 3am today (I got this after quitting a game I was playing). Long story short I am stuck here at 3am after a restart for an update to 1709 that I did not want just to roll back to 1703 (no, not risking another freeze) again for the 5th time when it finally finishes. I really wish Microsoft wouldn't force these updates on everyone and provide us with a real way to delay (or skip if we want to) Feature Updates if our old updates are working just fine. BTW, I had my active hours (when it's not supposed to ask for a reboot) purposely set to a time that I'm not usually on the computer. Didn't work as it asked me anyway.

The Windows Update delay option is only available on certain versions of Win 10.  I have Win 10 Home Premium and it’s not available.  As a workaround I have set my PC as a ‘metered’ connection to the internet.  Procedure as follows:

 Choose ‘Settings/Network & Internet/ & click ‘Ethernet’(Ethernet is in menu list on the left hand side), and then click on ‘Network Connected’ (3^rd^ down on centre menu). This now gives the option to change to a Metered Connection. 

This works ok for me as I can check for updates and choose whether to download or not. I usually wait for a week or two after a Feature update before downloading and always create a System Restore point before doing so.  I know it should be easier than this and can’t understand why Microsoft hasn’t included the option to delay installing feature updates in the Win 10 home Premium edition.

(My initial problem with the freezing issue was Acronis 2010, I uninstalled this and have never had a problem of freezing since, that's over 2 months now. The same applied to two other PC's I have running Win 10)

To get rid of random hangs you need to disable the quick start. Helps everyone who works on AMD FX series processors.

The worst part of this is if you wait more than 10 days after 1709 is forced on you, it won't let you go back to version 1703 (which wasn't locking up the computer).  I didn't even know that 1709 was loaded on this laptop, but I noticed the constant crashing (nothing works, not even the keyboard or mouse so you can't get to the task manager) and finally figured out that my computer was updated behind my back.  Fortunately I have an old W10 backup on hard drive, but I'm going to lose many of my documents and programs if I restore it.  So now I'm caught between a rock and a hard place.  Thanks Microsoft!
