Windows 10 1709 freeze randomly

Do not turn it off. Everything works fine.

In version 1803 the problem of freezing was fixed. Install 1803.

Just installed 1803 and disabled fast start. Hoping for the best.

Your freezing issue is because of Intel graphics drivers. You can remove the driver from the context menu and it will not freeze there, it will still freeze in other places. Intel is working on a solution.

Its not intel being as I don't use Intel at all for anything anymore my system is entirely team red right now though I got this freeze with both Nvidea and AMD GPUs installed but its not graphics related of that I'm positiive. Its not fast start up because I turned it off when I set up my pc (I custom build them) which was originally running on windows 7 and I upgraded making sure I custom set everything. Its not GPU because its not a display error, the whole system freezes. Its not a power issue, because that's not how they behave and that would leave logs, its not a memory issue because the freezes generally initiallise during times of low activity not when the system is under stress.

My belief at least in my case and likely the case for many other FX multicore users its something to do with the commands for unparked cpu cores dealing with multiple tasks that require different types of memory, eg watching a video, while browsing the internet and when doing this windows idle processes run its system checks (there's nothing you can do about this, it happens all the time when your systems not stressed) which is the direct cause of the initial freeze.  Which is also why, when you get your first freeze on that install the frequency of freezes will then increase as the system checks will restart once out of safe mode but the code will be bugged with the same error and this is why after the initial freeze it can happen when the system is stressed because its caused by windows trying to rerun the bugged code.

I'm very interested to see how people get along with 1803 however, but I'm in no rush to update and I'll happily wait for my Zen system before committing. The only reason I run Windows 10 is for Direct X 12 which isn't supported in Windows 7 (Windows 8 is awful IMO) and many of the features in 10 I just remove or reset to run like on windows 7, I really wish I wasn't forced onto this Operating system and I really wish they wouldn't force stupid features that I'll never in a million years even read the discription of onto my system but I'm a gamer and as such I don't have another option right now.

Oh, I disabled hibernate mode at all and fast start option was removed.

Can't find this option in 1803. Maybe it was removed.

Can still see it on my 1803 laptop.

• click Choose what the power buttons do
• there it is

On my desktop I previously disabled it so (i'm guessing) it does not appear as an option for that reason.

You could be right though - my laptop never had the freezing issue. Only the desktop.

So perhaps it is removed on systems that freeze?
