My Motherboard is ASUS B85M-G about 5 years old. 3GHz and 16Gb RAM. I am reluctant to change it out as it performs all my engineering tasks very well.
Windows 10 1709 freeze randomly

Windows 10 1709 its been out almost a month now and still no fix for the freezing bug issue, lots of people are having the same issue as me and none of your suggestion work unlike the 1703 which didn't freeze for me but sadly 1709 does but seems like Microsoft hasn't acknowledge the problem yet.. #Microsoft fix it

2018-01-26T22:23:07+00:00 I have been told by MS help that my ASUS motherboard is not compatible with creator upgrade. My desktop freezes after 5-10mins. So I rollback each time.
I cannot stop the update assistant which seems to overide all other settings. The update has been removed from update registry and update services disabled but still it downloads. I work on a mobile cable tether which cannot be set to metered.
I now work off line as much as possible and try to uninstall the assistant as soon as it downloads . My choices are otherwise limited. I have same software setup on a DELL laptop without problem.
If you go into Windows Update settings, advanced options, you can delay the features updates which 1709 is, for 365 days...
BTW I am using an ASUS M5A99FX Pro 2.0 motherboard. That wouldn't be the same as you would it?

2018-01-26T13:26:46+00:00 iv tried sfc /scannow but it found no errors of any kind. and dism.exe/Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth we will see if that makes a difference but i doubt that it would, i must say this is the second time iv installed windows 10 1709 and same problems. unlike 1703 no such problem.thank you for at least taking the time to answer

2018-01-24T17:27:34+00:00 I think people who found that the problem stopped after disabling fast boot is more of a coincidence than anything. Fast boot is non functional once windows have full loaded up. Its primary function & really, only function is to shut down your system with a touch of hibernation, where it uses laptop battery power or system power to keep data stored in your ram. So when you power on again, it loads from the ram, rather having to seek out files from your HDD. Fast boot has 0 benefits if your already on a SSD, just to point that out to everyone.
1709 is the problem & I have contacted MS support & when I said the problem is with 1709 thats caused my system to become unstable. The live support chat suddenly ended, twice!

So disabling fast start doesn't work in my case.
