Ha. I had the exact same reaction to those Windows Update errors as you and my MSE is now also borked (80242014). After reinstalling the MSE the first update went through without a problem and now I am getting error messages (80242014) - same as you.
I don't think we did something "wrong". There is something wrong with die MS servers right now.
I knew MS was going to end support for windows 7 at some point, but I can't believe they didn't even have the courtesy or moxie you let people know if that is indeed what is going on. We're left here not knowing if it's a royal MS screw-up, or if they have just dropped us windows 7 users like yesterdays bath water. Whatever it is, I'm PO'd big time. Whatever it is, it's MS's fault/problem.
