    Get a new HDD and do a clean install of Windows 10 then copy all your data off your old HDD. With Windows 10 you wont need a KEY since you have had windows 10 on that machine Windows is activated with a digital license.

    Thanks for all the tips ...... as per post from GlennKrueger ... just tried WU and Defender ... again .. both working OK without any help from me ... looks like update from MS today.

    Microsoft has released a fix. For those who has still issues with Windows Update, because the fix isn't installed automatically, see my blog post for further assistence. Hope it helps:

    For anyone's information, this 'error code 80248015' is not just a Windows 7 occurrence. Although, Vista is now unsupported for security updates (which is why I found it odd to receive), Vista is showing this same error, too. 

    Wanting to try to update yet unable to; 

    So, this is clearly from the update centre that has issued out everywhere?

    Hi,

    It looks like some changes have been made that should resolve this. Can everyone on this thread try again today and see if the error is gone?
