    err...

it doesn't work for me. I just opened windows update and it shows the Red shield. if I click to check for updates, it says the usual "service is not running".

So, how to force this new cab to be downloaded ?

    EDIT

    ok , solved manually:

    Date back to the 3rd

    manual check for updates

    closed windows update

    date back to 5th

    opened windows update : works

Just as an aside ... 12 months ago I upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 64, and W 10 refused to work properly for weeks ... contacted Microsoft and spent hours with them trying to resolve ... they eventually accepted defeat..... they admitted upgrades were not always successful and they would return me to W 7.

This they also tried, but as they could not recognise W 7 Product Code attached to my PC ( despite emailing a photograph to them) this meant a download to USB stick ( on another computer ) and a re-installation of W 7.... which then worked !

So now I can't re-install W7, as I have no Product Code that works on either .. and have error code 80248015 which still isn't, or looks like being, corrected.

Not going to Windows 10 to only get the same problems, can't update anything on Windows 7 ... where next ... Apple ?

Try what I did. Put back the date to the 3rd ( or even the 2nd ).

open windows update , run "look for updates"

When it finishes , close it, put back the date to today. Reopen windows update

I had the same problem yesterday with the error code. Went on WU this morning and all seems to be working again on both my machines. I didn't do anything so seems Microsoft got things working.

Time to move to Windows 10, you have until December 31 2017 to upgrade to windows 10. Follow the instructions.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

This will solve your problem. Much more secure. After upgrading you can do a clean install. I t is like having a brand new machine.
