Error Code 80248015

Got the same problem :(

I tired searching for solutions, but everything (for Windows 7) was "old fixes",  the most recent were from 2016 or early 2017.  With system updates occurring regularly, a past fix that worked then may not now.   

Hopefully, whatever this current fix is, it's simple and easy to follow.  Attention Windows Tech Help: I request dumb-downed instructions with step by step pictures, please.

I need step by step as well my accounting software is not equipped to handle windows 10 yet plus I have used windows 10 and went straight back to 7. Help please microsoft fix this problem.

My computer is showing the same error 80248015! My computer is set to auto updates but they were not installed. I keep getting this error! The error message tells me that it's an unknown error, so how do I fix this?!

I have Windows Vista!

Is there any help out there for this error?!

The issue is all on microsoft side, due to an expiry date for the windows update service.

And why do we even need an expiry date on the "client" when it should be the server that should not offer NEW updates once the EOL is reached ???

This just means that

1. past EOL we cannot update "easily" our PAID products still supported ( OFFICE )
2. if I want to install win7 past EOL , I cannot install automatically the updates available until the EOL date.

doesn't seem to me a good practice but just another move to force us to migrate, eventually...

Okay, I think my suspicion about it being a MS problem as to whether they'll continue to support windows 7,  or how they'll support it has now been confirmed.  Sounds like this is indeed a windows 7 problem.  What a sorry way to treat their customers!!

Yeah! I renamed the SoftwareDistribution folder and then thought everything is fine. Then I noticed MSE having update problems as well, so I uninstalled my current MSE version and did a fresh install. The first definition update went through and NOW the MSE update is completely broken. Manual updates work, but scanning for updates brings up an error window (0x80248014, "error connecting to service").

Strange, that the MSE updates did not get fixed by renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder. As far as I know they use the same folder for their updating.

On a side note: all the Windows 7 PCs we still have in our office (4) have those problems as well, so its a bigger issue with W7 and not something only some people have.
