Running W7 on one machine. Have not seen Error Code 80248015 but get a pop up that states

Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need restart your computer.

Running the trouble shooter does not help.

I've documented it within the blog post  Windows 7: Error 0x80248015 in Update Search (Dec. 4, 2017)

A simple workaround so far (until MS fixes the expire date) is to uncheck the option to update other Microsoft products - as mentioned within the blog post.

Unfortunately my control panel freezes up and won't allow me access to change any settings.  It started doing that last night.
