2017-12-04T22:04:16+00:00 I've documented it within the blog post Windows 7: Error 0x80248015 in Update Search (Dec. 4, 2017)
A simple workaround so far (until MS fixes the expire date) is to uncheck the option to update other Microsoft products - as mentioned within the blog post.
Unfortunately my control panel freezes up and won't allow me access to change any settings. It started doing that last night.
Try to set your date two days backward - maybe it helps. Otherwise try system restore to go back a few days and try the workaround again. Guss your issue is a bit more different.

2017-12-04T21:58:44+00:00 I made the change indicated in Born's blog and my Win 7 Pro, 32-bit, system was able to check for updates again without getting the 80248015 error I got before making that change.
But, it said Windows is up-to-date, and no updates available. Not even any update for Microsoft Security Essentials today. So how do we know that's correct? Or is this just another symptom of the WU failure...??

2017-12-04T21:44:28+00:00 if you restore a few days back to when windows update worked and then try updating, then you will be the proud possessor of the error code 80248015
for now, I concur with changing settings to just receive windows updates [viz. , not for usoft's other products]... for now, this works
