Error Code 80248015

Gborn: Thanks for all your input regarding this problem. My updates are now working correctly but I have one final question.  During the outage I renamed the distribution folder to .old and restarted WU. This gave me back WU for windows only and I manually updated MSE for a workaround. I am now wondering what to do with the old folder that I renamed.  It is over 1gb and I assume is so large due to having the update history among other data.  Do I just leave it alone as I have ample disc space or should it be deleted?    Thanks

Microsoft has released a fix. For those who has still issues with Windows Update, because the fix isn't installed automatically, see my blog post for further assistence. Hope it helps:

I did everything your blog post says to do, including the Silverlight installation and YES everything is back to normal and working just fine. So I would encourage anyone reading this to take the link.

Well, before I realised there was a Microsoft distribution problem, I restored my usually well behaved W7 system back to 27/11/2017 as I assumed a corrupted download, post then. Then, of course I could not re-download the intervening updates. However, I have just used Control Panel's "windows update" and the previous 'Update blocked' message has gone away. Whether the updates will re-download remains to be seen ? In the absence of any other heads up, it looks like it may have been sorted automatically, for me at least. Jusy glad I didn't fiddle too quickly as I have before with XP and Vista !

Interesting posts re Vista - I'll try my laptop that has Vista, as it had stopped updating previously.

Any other news on this front,  please shout.
