Error Code 80248015

it doesn't work for me. I just opened windows update and it shows the Red shield. if I click to check for updates, it says the usual "service is not running".

So, how to force this new cab to be downloaded ?

ok , solved manually:

Date back to the 3rd

manual check for updates

closed windows update

date back to 5th

opened windows update : works

Firstly, make sure the link opens in Internet Explorer - might be easiest to make it your default browser just for this operation.

Then it should ask if you want to install the Microsoft Update activex control or something similar, cant recall the exact message.

This should take you to the page, in IE, which lets you subscribe to microsoft update once again.

You may need to add the *.microsoft.com domain to the 'Compatibility View' options in IE - no idea why but for some reason their own page needs that to render properly.

You're a genius Arghbedragons!!!  I had to open internet explorer (which I hate), before the updates would download.  My computer has been trying all day to download something, and my control panel update settings would hang up when I clicked on them, until I opened Internet Explorer.  Hope this is the end of this micro-crap induced nightmare!!!

I'm still getting error 80248015 when I try to run Windows Update (Win 7, 32-bit) but MSE is updating itself normally by manually using MSE's own updater, regardless of whether the box Born told us to uncheck is checked or unchecked, and without changing the date on this PC.

Got 2 MSE definitions updates this afternoon, and now have the latest: 1.257.1389.0,  which was created at 4:05 PM on 12-4-17. Not sure if that's my time zone (Pacific) or some other zone.  

I don't understand the panic here. MS is unlikely to issue any serious or major updates between now and the next regularly scheduled 2nd Tues updates. So I don't think there's any real threat to anybody's system as long as we can get MSE updates using MSE, itself.

Sure, MS screwed up -again- and it's a waste of our time and I'm as annoyed as everyone else, but it's not a critical problem.

I WAS TOLD BY SOMEONE ELSE TO GO INTOWINDOWS UPDATE CHANGE I THINK IT WAS THE 3RD ONE DOWN AND UNTICK THE BOX then I rebooted and I went back to update it took me to another error no then chrome came up and chrome  updated windows on chrome,idont know if its a one off or not I will just have to wait and see.

Overall MS need to fix it. I've posted and escalated it at Windows 7 Update Search stops with 0x80248015 hope, some moderator forward it to the product group.
