++ the future of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones ++

I'll put my Android toys up against anything ya got. Mine will work. I'll win. Every time.

Not mad. Just confused as to why anyone would spend a penny on anything Microsoft. Its an outdated company selling bloatware.

• Windows 10 devices are beautiful & innovative, productive products & competition is important in the ICT sector : it is the way for development & user experience maximization // ++ have heard, that the current CEO did not get, why the world needs a 3rd mobile ecosystem. Let us not forget that many things, systems or even countries start from very low levels, e.g. the USA, OSs & many inventions. 

++ so here are a couple reasons : duopolies or monopolies (in some markets) are not great for users & development; Universal Windows Platform needs it, many Windows users need it, MS Edge needs it & if the company wants to keep pace with the biggest tech companies on the long run, then definitely needs Windows (10) Mobile devices & Lumias are emblematic for smartphone history.

++ Ballmer could have done a + job, but left without doing the decisive steps & the current CEO & Gates have not adventured in the phone business, because the market share differences were huge & yeah they want be winners, so they throw out the existing investment funds on many questionable projects, which will have questionable results, but who cares. Well in the smartphone era the company will not get easy wins & turning your back to the competition is not the solution & only make things worse for the company & community of users // inaction not an option, even the company name requires the competitiveness in the smartphone industry : smart, portable, micro-space, fast, daily-use //

• just wanted to say that a podium can bring the company closer to an overall ICT win & a complete Windows experience for fans (or it is better a podium, than the lack of a podium) //

++ warning signs exist : recently New Zealand has chosen a rival for education purposes instead of Windows 10 devices

 & also Amazon may be the one that profits from the opportunity to be on the podium //

Warning Signs?? - no!!

This isn't new news. Some years ago, some European jurisdictions moved to adopt GPL applications such as Open Office rather than be tied to the MS Office suite with its multiple licensing and security issues (as well as the associated expense). Others have moved toward the adoption of Linux OS distributions for both desktop and server environments for the same reason. Many of us have gone through the trouble of creating dual-boot laptops for the same reasons. The program to develop an affordable laptop for developing nations decided against an MS architecture for the same reasons.

But back to Lumia where this all started; the "market" will drive the future of any set of devices based on capabilities, cost, and perceived usefulness. Android and iOS both offer capable apps and relative ease of use. Some of their platforms cost more, but W10 mobile's future is being shaped by its growing irrelevance in the market especially where new hardware and associated capabilities of that hardware are concerned.
