hmm, so if google makes a security & bug fix and the OEM needs additional weeks/months to add their own crap to it, then shall we consider it as an advantage?

No. But releasing bug fixes to fix something broken by the previous month's "fix" only to have it broken again the following month to be fixed again one month later is hardly a glowing recommendation either - especially when it's the same OEM for both hardware and OS.

I generally try to resist, however on rare occasions I can't help myself from responding to the incoherent nonsense sometimes posted in this thread, especially when the same false premises are repeated over and over and over and over again.

There have not been any OS updates this year, since none have been developed. Please stop presenting maintenance patches as OS updates. The OS development ended with the Fall Creators Update, i.e. version 1709, if you are lucky to have one of the few devices supported for it.

I wonder what ChrisKagunda would consider as "bringing things forward" - a new look for the store or the Truecaller app being discontinued.

++ perhaps this year the users have benefited also from feature upgrades, e.g. improved gestures & touch & on version 1709 the introduction of fluent design (regular monthly updates are usually under 100MB, but the April 2018 update has exceeded 500MB, so it is not the same thing)

++ sorry that some apps are discontinued (in my user experience e.g. F1 app, news apps like WSJ, but if you are + you can find usually replacements or like in football call in the substitutes + e.g. I have found 5 other news apps, there is the Sports app & the internet or F1 live ticker for n-tv etc. ). These discontinuations can be only indirectly attributed to the company. 

++ I admit, that I have not bought any items from ebay & only observe the trends & that few  📱 are left in stores & only Wiley Fox has had the courage to manufacture openly & proudly devices powered by this OS with a great potential // In case that a fan has the perseverance, the courage, the faith, can afford to risk & has the fighting spirit to follow up on a complaint, then online retailers offer the possibility to obtain 1709 devices at a fraction of their initial cost (if 📱 is in good shape, then the native apps & the camera is worth the effort) //

Been laughing for the last half hour, as I read that the latest "update" to Windows is deleting users documents. I may have wet myself.

Windows mobile 10 is dead. You have about 14 months to buy either an Android phone or an iPhone. Then, bye bye! So the security updates will stop, and with no major apps, outdated security, and no new features, it will be officially dead in Dec of 2019. 

Again, Wiley Fox does not make that phone. I would suspect that there is a wearhouse full of other novelties that bankrupt Wiley Fox will spew out as well. Again, dead OS.

And, in a few posts back, you mention that the competition doesnt care for old OS versions. Microsoft is the absolute king of this, aren't they? 

As for Chris, yes, the fact that the company ended app support may have something to do with your issue.
