++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. So my question is for Microsoft & fans // is it possible to continue the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumias for the fans of the brand & Windows ? // ++  #theWindowsthatneversleeps +

    • maybe it will be Windows Core OS, but development is constant & fluent design comes to Xbox. Congrats !! // 
    • there is a new sheriff in town : the updates for the MSN news family , the Office apps family & the consolidating monthly update are rolling out //
    • from a profitability point-of-view the company has to see if there is demand for a mobile devices line & to correlate the supply with that demand in a dynamic way. Of course, there are different segments of the user base & maybe a product is not suitable for some potential users, but Windows Phone enthusiasts can embrace a step by step development process, that in the long run can close the app gap & the rest of problems //

    • as I still test a Windows phone with version 1607, I have to notice that the last cumulative update affected the functionality of older apps, which do not start // 
    • the solution is to reinstall the apps, which are still available in the Microsoft Store //

    Actually, this exposes another ongoing problem with WIN Mobile 10.

    In my experience, one of the most commonly reported issues with the OS is the way that apps are "broken" by updates. I lost a number of apps after the last update when I had to use the Windows Recovery Tool to get my Lumia 735 right again. Most of the apps, but not all restored. In more than one case, the app was no longer available in the store probably because it wouldn't work with the current update and the developer decided not to maintain it. In 2 cases, the businesses that maintained the app (1 bank and 1 brokerage) dropped support for WIN Mobile 10 although still maintaining support for iOS and Android.

    It's not personal, just business. The cost of paying professional staff to maintain an app with a declining market base will, sooner or later. become the tipping point for discontinuation of the service.

    • interestingly enough, it is possible to lose an app functionality on version 1607 & at the same time the app performs as usual on the last version // e.g. apps lost on version 1607 : WSJ videos, youtube, NBC news //
    • this month Windows 10 mobile has stabilized its experimental mobile OS market share around 0.17-0.18% for the last 3 months running & emerges as a top 4 mobile OS, close to the podium & definitely a bronze medal winning smartphone OS (this maybe an overall bronze, but the OS wins in live-tile UI & fluent design, integration with a Windows PC, Continuum for some Lumias, Groove Music and the list can go on +*+ keep up the good work +*+ Translator & Cortana are also there, Office apps, Power BI, MSN & the OS is not short on games )
