Apple has a phone... Google has a phone.... Why not Microsoft...?

Apple has 20% of the smartphone market, Google has 79% and they both make money from it. Microsoft have 0.1% and dropping. If they want to re-establish a presence it will be an endless money pit. That ship not only sailed for Microsoft, but has sunk in the deepest waters imaginable.

Microsoft will be a 1 trillion company only without a mobile division dragging it down. All acquisitions they have made are part of their quite successful strategy to reach that 1 trillion valuation. You may not like or agree with the strategy but it is making the shareholders extremely happy, which is much more important than a few thousand winphans.

Please provide source for your claim that a successful mobile devices plant SELLING WINDOWS PHONES can be established for less than 1 billion (I assume USD?).

Again, don't get tied down to hardware. Yes. Pay some third party to develop phones. Your issue will always be apps. Why would any company trust Microsoft enough to spend on creating apps? Why would anyone leave Apple or Android to come to the hot mess that would be another horrible release of Microsoft hardware? 

I can argue that the only reason Microsoft has developed apps for Android and Apple is to promote Office and other enterprise products. 

I can see where Microsoft is out of all hardware within 5 years, as, so much as has been written, the Surface series hasn't shown a profit yet.

• if there are not direct profits, than we have to reckon with some losses, but that does not mean that turnover is down // it is true that if there is not a way to achieve some sort of profitability than the company subventions this branch // since the 1 trillion valuation depends on the value of the company share, I do not think that the quiet existence of Windows 10 mobile influences negatively the share value, but a strong Windows 10 mobile can increase the share value so that the company can go to pick some apples //
