- the Lumia line has been important in smartphone history with unique features, the result of the work of two of the biggest companies in software & mobile hardware development
Correct, no argument there. It still failed, for a variety of reasons. It won't be the first time and it won't be the last time a good product fails in the real world - see Betamax vs VHS.
- as a user I was talking about Windows Mobile & not MS apps on other OS ++ it is + that the company's mobile offer is platform independent, but do not abandon Windows, because doing so will weaken many
things
Windows Mobile is already abandoned and Microsoft's balance sheet is going from strength to strength. I cannot see a single example of anything being weakened by that.
- UWP can certainly be more developed, but how will this look like without the mobile devices section ++ surely it will be much poorer & the work of many developers will be lost
Mobile devices were never the focus of UWP development, it was a beneficial side effect that UWP apps developed for touch screen PCs and tablets could be adapted with minimal effort for mobile devices, so the loss of that section has not had any impact on
the work of any developers. I don't believe any developer was stupid enough to develop just for mobile devices.
