++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. Its a bad decision, and really disappointing for a lot of fans of windows. I know Microsoft never going to be able to compete with iOS or Android, but maybe Microsoft could focus on provide a safe mobile os with basic features packed in a smartphone look, I use my Lumia 950 daily, all I want when I'm out of home is telephone, sms, web browser, email and maps... All this Microsoft can provide. At home I'm using other platform for media/social media.

Buy the Wileyfox Pro piece of junk then, it's latest price is GBP 60, if you are looking for a dumb smartphone for use out of home. I guess demand for it by the "millions of fans" is not so great if they had to cut the price from 200 to 60. Does that mean you only use your 950 at home ?

I am extremely disappointed with Microsoft!!!! Just when they got the platform strategy fixed, they bail. The Windows 10 mobile offers opportunity to grow. Why bail now?
Market share? There is an extremely loyal following to the Windows phone. The phone is a stable device offering telephone, internet, email, GPS, camera. True, the apps are fewer, but there are improvements. (It seems programmers of apps have been confused about the direction of the operating system, as well.) Now it is fixed.
Can Microsoft sell the Windows Phone business to a smaller, more agile organization? I'm listening ...
