++ the future of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones ++

++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. So my question is for Microsoft & fans // is it possible to continue the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumias for the fans of the brand & Windows ? // ++  #theWindowsthatneversleeps +

    • thanks for your answer CFORDG ++ the dominant handsets in the US administration are probably I phones, but in the past there had been at least a chance for a more diverse picture, e.g. the NYPD had been powered by Lumias & they did not regret the choice //

    ++ Azure & the cloud area development has been largely favored & has its merit-based place, but market shares have been comparable to that of Windows Phone ++ the key difference is that in the phone business there was a lack of perseverance, marketing vision  and so on ++ I emphasize the fact that the goal of Windows Phone should be primarily a leading market share among Windows users & only after this accomplishment to dream about leading the world smartphone market & as I see this intermediary goal is one that really counts for Microsoft //

    ++ I observe the Microsoft multilateralism as a way to engage in many business areas, e.g. the partnership with Kroger in the grocery chain innovative business or initiatives in the automotive industry.

    ++ finally as part of this multilateralism I think Microsoft should be represented in the smartphone market, especially that 5G is coming & as Cortana would say : change is constant (hopefully things can move Windows Mobile way in the near future ++ we have to consider that a company has not unlimited resources & they had to prioritize their development areas, but the "brick by brick rebuilding" process of the company's product portfolio may come also at a stage when Windows Phones will have a bright future) ++ for the fans though the handsets are still impressive & doing their job ++ as we enter this important year in Windows Mobile history, version 1607 still gets support via native apps & the cumulative security updates  process has kicked off for version 1709 & 1703 //

    First - Happy New Year back to you and yours!!

    Next - As an American, telling me that Windows is in the White House is hardly an endorsement and I'll bet real money that the Donald isn't on a Lumia (or about anything else requiring certain cognitive capabilities).

    WileyFox Pro looks interesting in some ways, but is essentially an also-ran in the hardware department and even the latest version of WIN10 mobile is rapidly running out of a place in the support cycle without any future in sight. Oh, and the signature on your email has NOTHING to do with device connectivity.

    I agree, live tiles are cool and I will miss them when they're gone.

    MS stock prices are one thing, but the actual analyst reviews of current and projected income streams show a bright light around Azure and related infrastructure in the cloud; WIN10 mobile isn't even a thought in this. The "multilateralism" you describe is related more to the development of interfaces to tie disparate devices with disparate OS's to a common virtual thread.

    Finally - and here we go again with another recurring theme - is the app issue. Over the last year or so, I've had 2 banks, a brokerage, and countless businesses either drop their WIN10 mobile apps or had them broken by "updates". I'm tired of trying to get things done on EDGE on my Lumia when I'm too often dealing with sites that themselves have "tired" of trying to keep up with MS's twists and turns on Windows mobile native browser.

    I do wish you and the community the very best, but I don't see a mobile future in an MS mobile device and I am therefore planning otherwise.

    ++ on the data front : Windows it is used even in the White House situation room (so would be great to have there some matching handsets) ++ WileyFox Pro is more affordable ++ when you send emails from a Windows 10 mobile device you get the automatic signature that reads : sent from your Windows 10 device (so Windows 10 mobile could power a whole new range of Windows Mobile devices) ++ follow Windows Central , MS Poweruser or Windows latest for news on Windows 10 Mobile

    ++ still the live tiles UI is my favorite & it is impressive, especially with some fluent design enhancements  //

    ++ a year or so I have followed the stock quotations of the main US publicly traded companies & I think the key for Microsoft's successful resistance on the market in December 2018 has been its multilateralism in many areas of development, while the competition has some dominant driving areas & when those have weaknesses, then their stock quotation also suffers //

    ++ many updated Gameloft & Microsoft Xbox games are available in the MS store for mobile, e.g. Age of empires Castle Siege  //  so there are still many things to do on the most secure mobile platform on planet Earth & beyond //
