++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. So my question is for Microsoft & fans // is it possible to continue the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumias for the fans of the brand & Windows ? // ++  #theWindowsthatneversleeps +

    ++ Microsoft to-do, XBOX live, MSN Sports (in this case you can get a live tile for all your favorite teams as well & of course live scores), Movies & TV, Alarms & Clock, MSN apps in general all have functional live tiles ++ live tiles are a great + (a special mention to transparent live tiles) + when they are working & still nice when you have 2-3 changing images per app or game (these are more like sticky note reminders) ++ live tiles are the user interface element which made it possible for Microsoft to make a difference in mobile (& they cannot complain in the PC sector as well; those who think that eliminating them will bring back Windows XP or 7 experience are wrong, because the main advantage of those OSs has been the more safe & less data consuming update process & not the design) ++ if they will be pushed away, certainly they can come back with a new wave of leadership ++ my recommendation is to make them better or customizable using for example fluent design or add some effects (like in some presentations) ++ in games live tiles are more simple, but still offer info on the current update or player name & level e.g. Modern Combat 5 //

    What a piece of nonsense.

    Live tiles are probably the best invention Microsoft has come up with throughout the years.

    They are much more productive and fun than some sort of blobby space holders from 70s called icons (or whatever).

    Useless and empty as they are, and time and screen space consuming - the icons.

    They are like a 1,000-item list of 'free' TV channels. Lots of images, none of sense.

    The Article itself says "For right now, though, all we have are rumors, so we will have to wait and see how this plays out."

    So there's no proof, though this article I found gave me an image.

    However usually in very early builds of anything fancy stuff like live tiles are not present. The UI of anything usually looks basic and unfinished when in this stage, just look at how the UI of Video Games looks at first. You usually see placeholders.

    Also that article is purposely making live tiles seem useless. Compare their screenshot with mine (I had to blur out some things on some of my tiles because personal info).

    MS is not trying to make their Surface product fail. The above article covers some good reasons for dropping live tiles. Personally, when I still had a WINDOWS phone, I found that the tiles were an "iffy" proposition in terms of their working especially after various updates both from an MS engineering issue as well as an app developer stance.

    On my WIN-10 laptop, I don't make much use of live tiles except for mail notification. I find the Rainmeter options for system and other tracking do very well with a lot less overhead demand.
