++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. So my question is for Microsoft & fans // is it possible to continue the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumias for the fans of the brand & Windows ? // ++  #theWindowsthatneversleeps +

1809 is ok, possibly even good enough to be launched in it's own right but  how do you launch a mobile os with no supporting hardware available?

Also you commented that tech is a 'linear process' i do not think that word means what you think it means, tech is adopted as a series of unpredictable step changes, moores law is no longer applicable and only applied to microprocessors as an intel marketing point, iPhone was an anomaly and little has changed since

I would assume, there are always people who gets tiered to use one or other product or device. There could be always chance for MS to get increasing attention on the market (theoretical). Since now-days MS phones are pretty rear/unique, which gives them additional value. It is not easy to buy one, you know!

I've recently bought my "new" MS phone, that works great even with continuum (and it is so cool), there is only some thousands of all around the word! (Szilard would probably tell us some nice metaphor about this like to buy BMW or Mercedes versus Bugatti, but he may select makes more carefully I assume)

And yes, my phone is pretty much alive as long UWP-Apps are developed, which I assume will remain for a while, since UWP is essential part for Windows 10, Windows S on PC and on always connected devices. Even my Lumia 640 gets some new apps. Unless MS also drops UWP and replaces it completely with Xamarin (again Szilard shell give us some metaphor)

Does someone know how many Alcatel idol 4 pro and/or Lumia 950 was produced in total? It would nice to see those information on wiki.

And yes, I'm almost sure we will see some future MS phone with some Windows variant. Or Lean phone with "Cloud Windows" or "Streaming Windows" who knows.

    • the F1 app team has been not polite because it cut the app from many who in fact had paid versions & of course they will put it back when there are enough playing & paying clients (the same story with banks) // I am not optimistic & I hear the famous "too low terrain" sound for Windows 10 mobile & but still hope that this CEO will find success also for Windows Mobile (the alternative is that it will be the CEO who let a Windows OS disappear & this is not a good thing) // save it because it is worth precisely more than GitHub or AI projects, which help you be so futuristic that you will be unable to turn the lights on by yourself // & back to your question:  we are the users, who like Windows 10 mobile & want to max its potential (maybe basin is in this category, but has a concealed base) // users can signify also developers, company officials, maybe the CEO, who knows...

    Is 7 still being supported?

Again, why would anyone ever get a Windows phone? You have never answered this. No more dumb car stories or soccer. Just explain why anyone would move from either Apple or Android phone to a Windows Phone.

Umm, there is no Lumia line, so Microsoft would have to start from absolute scratch. So, again, explain why Microsoft would spend a ton of money to revive hardware with no apps, questionable hardware, and unreliable support?

So, you would come out with a new phone every 3-5 years? When the leaders in the market come out with new ones every 6-12 months?

So, by your own numbers, less than 1% of the market may still be using a dead phone. Great.
