• that is a great experience, but many Android versions simply do not have the possibility to upgrade to a newer version & after their flagships had had problems with overheating many phones do not have battery pit-stop chance. Although quality is not a sure thing, there are still batteries available at online retailers for Windows Phones (looks like phones running version 1709 have fewer problems with app functionality after the updates).

++ Windows Phone 8 will no longer receive new apps from November 2018 & existing apps do not receive updates from summer 2019 // I think the users should get some incentives to switch to new Windows Phones.

• multi-language is difficult sure but others manage it very effectively (or at least effectively enough)
• agree W10 on a mobile factor is important for people like us, much less so for those who use market-leading smartphones
• Again I would argue that the process we are seeing is one of constant changes to fix introduced problems rather than a consistent fine-tuning process. It feels more like a fire fighting exercise than an incremental move towards a well defined goal
• It seems much less uniform in Windows 10M than in either Apple or Samsung domains. Apple's crippling of older models for 'battery safety' is an interesting case for example: without breaking any other Apps they were able to insert their own code to artificially reduce battery life and limit processor power. MS, despite having many more releases in a period, are generally incapable of guaranteeing even their own apps working
• I skipped 1607 because it seemed more buggy than usual, 1709 seems ok

The point stands that MS need to do better in the consumer space if they want to retain mass market appeal, they rested on their dominant market position for too long and now Apple/Samsung are eating their lunch

The consistent fine-tuning process refers in my view more on a quarterly or even semestrial basis (so you need to summarize the updates from a larger time frame) // Certainly for version 1709 there is a new services pack or feature 2, which conceals the April 2018 upgrade for Windows 10 mobile // with this upgrade it is possible for phones running this version to have fluent design.

I don't like to be pedantic on forums where I know that English is not everyone's first language but it's important when your meaning is unclear

• do you mean 'constant' fine tuning, as in its always being fixed rather than 'consistent' as in the fixes applied are uniformly good (or bad)?

I agree with 'constant' but wouldn't say its a good thing when most people are looking for 'it just works' rather than 'I believe it will work sooner or later' so it's not a positive other than indicating support continues for the moment.

I disagree with 'consistent' because the updates vary a great deal in content, quality and timing.

The 1709 build (10.0.15254.527) seems to be more stable and performant but still has problems and breaks some apps until they are re-installed. People will never back the brand in large numbers until the inconsistencies are eliminated and 'Joe Public' can rely on all apps working after *every* update. When you are at the Apple level people forgive these problems but to move in that direction MS need to be better.

Important? No. Large? Yes.
