++ the future of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones ++

++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. So my question is for Microsoft & fans // is it possible to continue the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumias for the fans of the brand & Windows ? // ++  #theWindowsthatneversleeps +

    • "the turtle always wins" new edition : netmarketshare September 2018 : the difference between Windows 10 mobile's last version & the last OS versions of the competition is under 1% (it is like under 1 second per lap in F1) 

    Windows 10 Mobile (originally released in March 2016) - 0.06% (doesn't specify which OS version exactly, if we take just 1709 which is the latest one it would be much less given the limited number of devices which support it)

    iOS 12.0 ( released September 2018, i.e. less than a month ago) - 2.30%

    Android 8.1 (released September 2017) - 8.74%

    Android 8.0 (released August 2017) - 14.61%

    I don't see any differences under 1%. I just wanted to have the facts correct. Please note - no opinions or comments from me - just numbers stated above.

    • there is a free market with many options & everyone has free choice ++ for me Microsoft apps & games are enough, but instead Windows 10 mobile offers still a beautiful wonderland ++ tech projects can  be lost & found again & happy Columbus Day ++

    I can't agree more...Cfordg.... The Apps debacle can acutely shorten the distance, if there is still any, between the phone and its graveyard. If the MS Mobile is dead, as 93tid persistently reminds us, it doesn't, still, make any sense to force the few handsets still active, to follow their production line to the scrap heap. Windows Mobile operates on two main functions: Apps & Settings. If you want to hurry it to the graveyard, that's where to start. Moreover, there are Apps that are untouchable in any smartphone, unless you want to kill it: WhatsApp, True Caller, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter.... I lost my True Caller, and had to buy Nokia 8, which runs on Android, immediately as a replacement. My wish had been to buy a 950XL, but because I can't think of a phone without True Caller, I changed my mind, besides, with no prior notifications being given, it's hard to know which other Apps or Settings will fail.

    I modded up Chriskagunda's post because I think it clearly illustrates why W10 mobile has an increasingly limited future; the death of apps.

    If I used my cell to only make and take calls, I'd probably be using my old flip phone and would have saved a good deal of money in the process. Like others however, I saw a mobile future for the cellular phone that I was anxious to embrace.

    The app debacle was created in part by MS by their foot-dragging approach to early SDK support and then furthered by their app-killing updates. On the public relations side, they haven't fostered a strong relationship with app developers either large or small. Over just the last few years, I have watched banks, brokerages, and retail outlets drop support for their W10 mobile apps as well as watching alternative browsers and other apps disappear in the face of various issues not the least of which is a declining user base. I am painfully aware of being told, "Just download the app." and having to reply that there isn't one for a W10 mobile cell phone. That's doubly galling when "they" used to have a Windows app that I used, but no longer and have refined the app for iOS or Android.
