++ the future of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones ++

++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. So my question is for Microsoft & fans // is it possible to continue the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumias for the fans of the brand & Windows ? // ++  #theWindowsthatneversleeps +

    ++ the Duo was not on the statistics radar, while in its competitive years (even after the Microsoft takeover), Windows phone managed to achieve double digits market shares in ITA or FRA. Even 3% is a huge thing in a multibillion customer market & in the USA Windows phone powered entire city police forces, flight attendants showed proudly their Lumias, but the new leadership did not understand phones & probably understands even less gaming.

    ++ 2021 has started & Windows 10 mobile devices will face the problem of support ending for the Office Mobile apps (hopefully these will continue to run) ++ without security updates still Windows 10 mobile delivered a secure experience in 2020 ++ a positive surprise as many Gameloft games are running top form & have the latest updates, there is cross platform experience in Asphalt 8 ++ UWP apps for Dragon Mania Legends or WPO ++ un updated app for Paddington Run & apps like Ice Age Adventures do not need upgrades ++ so a lot of things are still top form & can easily fill the device memory ++ still Merry 12 Days of Christmas & blessings & good performance in 2021 ++ hope for continuity & hope for new Windows Mobile devices ++

    Question: what will happen when IOS decides to develop an IOS to run PC's?! Isn't Microsoft worried about loosing its business base?

    They already did that back in 1995, it was called Mac OS, then Mac OS X, then OS X, now back to MacOS.

    Microsoft still don't seem too worried about it.

    Brutal realities carry equally brutal consequences. The market outreach the phones had created, if forced to collapse with brutality, might, unexpectedly, drain off with some currently profitable products. Not to mention irreversible image issues that competing companies will exploit with glee.

    In general, absolutely correct. When applied to the situation in question however, a brutal collapse of 1% of market outreach is nothing. Nobody cares, least of all Microsoft, when their refocused approach on targeting the main platforms is giving them the 90+% of market access. Non-WP users couldn't care less about something they are not even aware of - like the existence of Windows Mobile. There can be no image issues where the image doesn't really exist. A relatively loud, but otherwise extremely small in number fanatic user base can delude itself into thinking that they actually matter in the market - unfortunately that is not true. 20, 30, even a 100 comments on a dedicated niche platform can seem a lot within that confined space, but are absolutely irrelevant in a market of 1.5 billion smartphones sold just in 2017.
