++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. So my question is for Microsoft & fans // is it possible to continue the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumias for the fans of the brand & Windows ? // ++  #theWindowsthatneversleeps +

    • the car comparison is central, but there are inspiring examples in other domains also. The native apps are in great shape on Windows Phone, but of course the company stepped up its mobile effort with apps (with many downloads) for the rival platforms. Here we have o photo of the present CEO  +  https://www.windowslatest.com/2018/09/03/five-years-ago-today-microsoft-acquired-nokias-smartphone-business/   ++  my hope for Windows 10 mobile is based on its value, of course I know that a small voice maybe too little too late // on the other hand I am inspired by 93tid's inspiration : many professionals had built a great ship that did not avoid the iceberg, but a lone amateur built a more reliable crucial ship & Windows 10 mobile has plenty of features that has to be saved for future generations of users //

++ as a distant observer of the stock market, I can say that generally speaking the entire stock market has been up since the 2016 USA election, so the company is in line with the peloton (in cycling terms).

So you've run out of dumb race car comparisons and are now going towards soccer ones?

Ballmer can say whatever he wants, in 2013. But its 2018, he's been out, Nadella is in, and Microsoft is worth more now without mobile than they ever were with it.

No apps, no mobile. Its that easy.

    • case study : it has been 5 years since Windows Phone is under the direct shield of Microsoft & I think we, the people / users have benefited from the best user interface & it is so great to see so much integration, logic, interaction between the Windows device family //

++ Windows 10 mobile has to play the same role for MS Windows & Microsoft, as the one Messi 10 plays for Barcelona & Argentina //

++ “It’s a bold step into the future – a win-win for employees, shareholders and consumers of both companies. Bringing these great teams together will accelerate Microsoft’s share and profits in phones, and strengthen the overall opportunities for both Microsoft and our partners across our entire family of devices and services,” said Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s former chief executive officer in 2013. “In addition to their innovation and strength in phones at all price points, Nokia brings proven capability and talent in critical areas such as hardware design and engineering, supply chain and manufacturing management, and hardware sales, marketing and distribution.” (case study) //

++ so we can make the conclusion that in all the above mentioned areas Microsoft can do much more // I give the best grade for hardware manufacturing & engineering (always can innovate & improve in this domain, but in 2015-16 Microsoft Lumia has been there right on the edge ) // the supply chain can be evaluated as satisfactory, but sales, marketing & distribution are domains where have been made too many errors (or there is a lack of some essential steps)

    All right, I'm back.

Lets get some facts straight. Microsoft did not buy Nokia. It simply bought out the division that was , was making Windows Phones. That part has since been either shut down, or sold, for those parts with any value left after the change of CEOs.

Nokia doesn't make phones anymore. No one makes Windows phones anymore.
