++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. So my question is for Microsoft & fans // is it possible to continue the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumias for the fans of the brand & Windows ? // ++ #theWindowsthatneversleeps +

I absolutely love my Nokia Lumia 1520, and when I started having some issues with my original phone, I found a new in box one on eBay. I asked the seller if they would load Win10 & Edge before shipping & they did. New phone works great. So far none of the phones currently on the market compare, so I'll stay w/Lumia until nothing works anymore. Shame on MS for such poor marketing strategies, and for totally underestimating their competition.

I have done a good deal of searching at both Nokia and Microsoft and can nothing on either site dealing with this issue directly.
I would note that the primary "news" on MS about anything related to this seems to be the ongoing development of Office 365 components so that they will have platform-independent files such as EXCEL, WORD, etc. products that will facilitate use across different platforms. For example, I can use my laptop to create EXCEL files that I can modify on my Android cellphone or iPad and store on my OneDrive account to access later on any of my devices.
As useful as this is, it is NOT anything to do with and should not be confused with a WINDOWS cellphone. If MS can follow this path and secure additional subscriptions to Office 365 applications (follow the money!!), it makes more sense to go in that direction than getting caught up in all the cat fights between different cell fans.
An analysis of OS development at MS indicates that they are working on what is being referred to as "10x". There is now some active speculation that MS will roll this out in 2021 as an "update" to current WIN10 running on desktop/laptop systems.
However, there is also some indication that they are working on a more modular approach to the OS path whereby they develop an OS core that will run on a variety of processors, possibly including the M1 which Apple is building into their new systems. This core will then be used to link to MS applications that may need tweaking based on the architecture of the device running the core, but the core itself will require relatively little maintenance of that sort since it will already have been designed to respect and fit the different processor architectures.
Some sort of WIN phone may come out of this, but I doubt it will come out of MS. Perhaps there is a manufacturer out there with the assembly lines in place that will partner with MS in this, but that's more speculation than I want to get into.

With the current incomprehensible (a weakest word that I could use) leadership policies of the company, I have little doubt that all what you have outlined will happen. It is not an economical, market-driven, or anything like that, decision. It is purely a political one and based on the personal preferences of a group of people that got into power. This did never end well in the history before, although big empires/corporations, of course, could still be around for quite some time as they have a lot of resources and 'psychohistoric' inertia - but we will see what happens.
Personally, after over 30 years of being a loyal Microsoft customer, I am mostly done with them, apart from emails, OneDrive and some other things that are difficult to change or frequently used by others - and not because I did not want to continue. Just was forced by all these decisions they keep making.
Examples when something good was ruined with little reason (and in IT, too) are not uncommon. Just think of what happened with Multics.
I have read all this thread in hope to find some information about how to repair my M$ Store and a way to install apps without M$ Store, I have to mention that I have a NOKIA LUMIA 909 (aka 1020) with Windows Phone 8.1 SP1. IF NOT, I WILL FIND A WAY TO INSTALL ANDROID ON LUMIA 909
