++ the future of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones ++

++ the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumia mobile phones is discontinued, but many of them are still in action and competitive. In my opinion, the timing for their launch alongside the first versions of Windows 10 mobile has been a problem (later versions of Windows 10 mobile are more competitive). I compare the path of Microsoft Lumia phones with the path of Mercedes F1 Team. If you have perseverance, you can win, but you need to have realistic intermediary goals. You must not be number one from the start, but rather be on the field, with competitive, distinctive devices (1% market share can be achieved with the core fans of Microsoft Windows). 1% is not a small number of users & translates to even more when we focus on Windows users. So my question is for Microsoft & fans // is it possible to continue the manufacturing process of Microsoft Lumias for the fans of the brand & Windows ? // ++  #theWindowsthatneversleeps +

    • Remember champ that a lone amateur built the Ark ++ you can not generalize the market share to less than 0.1%, because Microsoft has not promoted globally its phones ++ so there are powerful Windows Phone markets around 1% market share, e,g. USA, Russian Federation, Vietnam (the former production facility was there), even UK well above 0.5%, France or Italy ++ Windows Phone is on the radar even if the competition delivers over 1.5 billion devices (in 2018 alone), so the loyalists see no reason to abandon a functional & sustainable phone ++ probably there is little chance to convince you unless #Joe from Microsoft comes out with a great tweet (better than the one from late 2017) //

    • Wiley Fox is a typical company fleet phone, but can be compared to Lumia 650, but Lumia in general scores better. Nevertheless Wiley Fox is a UK brand so should do its job ++ its initial price was exaggerated as has cost more than the Lumia 650 //
    • supported Lumia devices & much of the Lumia fleet running Windows 10 mobile can perform quite well until at least March 2020 ++ so heads up ++ after this term extra caution is needed, but the phones will not go extinct //

    ++ thanks for the constructive contributions & for the history lesson provided by CFORDG ++ I also think that there are similarities & Windows Phone has needed an enthusiastic Gates to foster the mobile business (nowadays the champion entrepreneur has other initiatives, e.g. innovative waste recycling without sewage systems, which can be useful in places which lack sewage infrastructure or in space) //

    Its a bad decision, and really disappointing for a lot of fans of windows. I know Microsoft never going to be able to compete with iOS or Android, but maybe Microsoft could focus on provide a safe mobile os with basic features packed in a smartphone look, I use my Lumia 950 daily, all I want when I'm out of home is telephone, sms, web browser, email and maps... All this Microsoft can provide. At home I'm using other platform for media/social media. 

    Buy the Wileyfox Pro piece of junk then, it's latest price is GBP 60, if you are looking for a dumb smartphone for use out of home. I guess demand for it by the "millions of fans" is not so great if they had to cut the price from 200 to 60. Does that mean you only use your 950 at home ?
