Permanently disable Touchscreen in Windows 10 [Solution inside!]

Thanks to MarkUK in this old thread - how to enter your Windows login password with a broken/defective screen - 

1. On the login screen, enter Windows Narrator mode to keep the focus on the login box (with a light blue outline) - this will allow you to type, despite the screen clicking crazily elsewhere.

>> NARRATOR: press Windows logo key+Ctrl+Enter (earlier versions of Windows, press Windows logo key+Enter) to toggle Narrator mode on/off.

2. After logging in, press Windows Key + X, then M, quickly => Device Manager.

3. Find "HID-compliant touch screen" to disable under Human Interface Devices section.

Then you can use your screen to apply the permanent fix in this thread. BIG thanks to david-cslu and others in this thread - my problem is now fixed. :-)

In this forum there are a dozen threads that ask the same question: How can I permanently disable a defective touchscreen in a Windows 10 device so that I can continue using the device without being disturbed by the faulty signals from the touchscreen.

Unfortunately in none of those threads (at least not those I've found) the question is answered properly. Instead the helpers fantasize about the device manager (which doesn't work since Windows just reenables the disabled device at the latest when rebooting) and claim that there is no other solution in Windows.

Luckily there actually IS a solution which I'll explain now:

1. Open regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch
3. Create a new DWORD (32 bit) with the name TouchGate
4. Doubleclik on the newly ceated DWORD and make sure it has the value 0

(0 = touch disabled, 1 = touch enabled)

After rebooting the touch functionality should be disabled permanently and therefore your problem solved.

(I could not give this solution to the already existing threads because unfortunately they have been closed with no correct answer... hope someone in the future finds this ...)

I want to thank you.  I have struggled for days.  Not only was my touchscreen acting up it was going crazy.  I could do nothing.  Every time I disabled it would not take long before it would enable again.  I have gone into the registry as you suggested, rebooted and for the last couple of hours everything is good.  I hope it continues.  I added the DWORD as you suggested.  I am always wary of messing with the Registry but I knew my computer was no good if I could not fix it.  AGAIN THANKS SO MUCH.

hey david, i was sure hoping your suggestion would solve this problem i'm having with touch screen automatically re-installing itself, but, sad to say, it didn't work for me .. .. .. thanks anyway :)

I have been able to disable touch screen with my account as an administrator, (solo account). Now, when I add the another local administrator account for testing to install quicken app, ( some how, bugerror does not disappear with my account) i can not manage the screen. I am not able to test to installing. Please help me why the second account reflect disabling the touch screen? And how can i disable all accounts in my pc.
