Permanently disable Touchscreen in Windows 10 [Solution inside!]

In this forum there are a dozen threads that ask the same question: How can I permanently disable a defective touchscreen in a Windows 10 device so that I can continue using the device without being disturbed by the faulty signals from the touchscreen.
Unfortunately in none of those threads (at least not those I've found) the question is answered properly. Instead the helpers fantasize about the device manager (which doesn't work since Windows just reenables the disabled device at the latest when rebooting) and claim that there is no other solution in Windows.
Luckily there actually IS a solution which I'll explain now:
- Open regedit
- Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch
- Create a new DWORD (32 bit) with the name TouchGate
- Doubleclik on the newly ceated DWORD and make sure it has the value 0
(0 = touch disabled, 1 = touch enabled)
After rebooting the touch functionality should be disabled permanently and therefore your problem solved.
(I could not give this solution to the already existing threads because unfortunately they have been closed with no correct answer... hope someone in the future finds this ...)

2021-11-10T05:30:59+00:00 I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I am for this. I was ready to trash my PC. I just wish I found it before I completely wiped it clean and lost my MS Office package. That is much cheaper than a new PC so I’m not too mad about it.
I followed this step by step and it worked like magic.
For those of you, like myself, that don’t know what “regedit” is just do a basic search and it pulls right up. Then follow the instructions step by step.

2021-11-10T13:15:14+00:00 Happy to help, I am worried, if I attempt to update to Win 11 as to whether this fix will work, and if I can access with the new security features that Win 11 demands. I think I will stick with Win 10 until its time to buy a new PC (without touchscreen).
