Permanently disable Touchscreen in Windows 10 [Solution inside!]

The fix that is posted on page 4 will only work for a short time as it is at the user level.

If you see the fix I refer too it relates to an earlier solution - which does NOT create a new DWORD. I repeat do not create new DWORD

Follow this - that works:

Just edit the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch

change the value to 0 from 1

Reboot 

open device manager 

select Human Interface Device  - you will see touch screen is present, right click and you will see it is not enabled.

This works after any feature Update.

I have been able to disable touch screen with my account as an administrator, (solo account). Now, when I add the another local administrator account for testing to install quicken app, ( some how, bugerror does not disappear with my account) i can not manage the screen. I am not able to test to installing. Please help me why the second account reflect disabling the touch screen? And how can i disable all accounts in my pc.

In this forum there are a dozen threads that ask the same question: How can I permanently disable a defective touchscreen in a Windows 10 device so that I can continue using the device without being disturbed by the faulty signals from the touchscreen.

Unfortunately in none of those threads (at least not those I've found) the question is answered properly. Instead the helpers fantasize about the device manager (which doesn't work since Windows just reenables the disabled device at the latest when rebooting) and claim that there is no other solution in Windows.

Luckily there actually IS a solution which I'll explain now:

1. Open regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Wisp\Touch
3. Create a new DWORD (32 bit) with the name TouchGate
4. Doubleclik on the newly ceated DWORD and make sure it has the value 0

(0 = touch disabled, 1 = touch enabled)

After rebooting the touch functionality should be disabled permanently and therefore your problem solved.

(I could not give this solution to the already existing threads because unfortunately they have been closed with no correct answer... hope someone in the future finds this ...)

I suspected I'd have to dive down into the detail but didn't have a clue where to start - the fix works very well.  The only tricky bit was doing the fix whilst the screen kept jumping around.  Note to Microsoft - it's fine to start off with "Disable the touchscreen" via Settings, but clearly when this doesn't work because the screen hardware is damaged you need to have also posted this type of regedit solution.  It shouldn't be left to the Microsoft Community.

You don't understand have much time and effort I put into trying to write a script, creating a group policy, or finding how to disable the touch screen outside of the device manager. You are correct no other forums had the answer or what I was looking for. Only thing I did different was apply this fix to the LOCAL_MACHINE instead of CURRENT_USER so that it was permanent change but it worked perfect and I could not find this before. Thanks again!
