Is it possible to permanently delete windows 10 update assistant?

Did not suggest you buy a new PC (although if you started with Windows 7 your computer is around ten years old if you bought it when 7 first came out and that is ANCIENT for a computer). You could always invest in a MAC. (I wouldn't touch the things but you might prefer them).

I mean, seriously: if you don't like a product why keep using it? Trade it in for something you DO like.

Microsoft makes Windows 10. It is designed, as a service, to provide continued updates and improvements. If this is not what you want you can go MAC. You can go OPEN SOURCE. There are many other choices.

All that your changes are accomplishing is to void any protection you might have gained via the Windows Defender Security Center and the protections (including, but not limited to) Antivirus that it provides,

It's not my personal files that is the issue to installing a different OS. They are all backed up on an external hard drive.

It's all the programs that I have fine tuned from the default settings to my specific needs.

When I changed from my Vista pc to a Windows 7 pc, that was the most time consuming part of the change, but at least then the OS change was worth it.

The change from Windows 7 to 10 has not warranted my desire to buy a new pc.

By the way, in my continuing efforts to stop updates I am now at the changing folder permissions stage and so far it is looking very promising.

That is quite true. And I said to READ up on it before installing for that very reason. But you still have your Windows License and you can still download the Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Premium iso to a Flash Drive for a clean install if you decide not to keep the Enterprise version. And you can keep backups of all your personal files and folders either in the Cloud or on an external hard drive for reinstallation. There is also nothing to stop you from moving the ISO in the Recovery Partition of your hard drive to a Flash Drive for reinstall if you don't like Enterprise.

But here's the main thing. You have Windows 10 (Home or Pro). It works a certain way. If you don't like the product buy something else. This is the product Microsoft makes.

If you decide that you want to install Windows 10 Enterprise using one of the provided ISO files, you won't be able to uninstall it. In addition, after you install Windows 10 Enterprise, you won't be able to use the recovery partition on your PC to go back to your previous version of Windows. A clean installation of your former operating system will be required, and you will need to re-install all of your programs and data.

If you fail to activate this evaluation after installation, or if your evaluation period expires, the desktop background will turn black, you will see a persistent desktop notification indicating that the system is not genuine, and the PC will shut down every hour.

If it is unstable reset it to Factory Condition. That would take care of the problem. And might even fix the updates issue to a large extent. Failing that, there is always the advice I have given elsewhere. Install the Enterprise edition of Windows for a free 3 month Trial. Normally, it is for businesses however the evaluation copy is free to anyone to try. No updates. None of that "bloatware" like Cortana and all that that so many profess to hate.

(Personally I LOVE all that stuff but to each his or her own).

I do URGE you to read the Preinstall Information THOROUGHLY before installing this Trial. But it sure sounds like what a lot of you want.

Otherwise you can always go with a computer that does not use a Microsoft Operating System at all...that's entirely up to you.
