Is it possible to permanently delete windows 10 update assistant?

I have a HP laptop (Model: 15-ac121na) using Windows 10 Home and for the last 3months ive been having problems with very slow internet speed. I tried so many different solutions to no avail and eventually i come across a temporary fix of rolling back the driver of the network adapter to version 2023.4.720.2015 however every time i close the laptop or restart it the network adapter updates itself again. This situation is bearable but now suddenly i keep getting window assistant pop ups constantly trying to download 5GB of updates. After giving in on what seems like the 1000th attempt to stop it i let the updates install and upon logging into my laptop i noticed the internet speeds had dropped again, i tried to roll back the driver but the option is now greyed out and i was stuck with just 54kbps on version 2023.58.731.2017!! I uninstalled the updates by going back to the previous windows build and now everything is back to normal (me rolling back the driver every so often) but im still getting windows assistant pop ups trying to install even after i went to control panel and deleted the application!

If anyone could help me with either deleting the assistant permanently or even my dodgy speeds i would be very greatful.

    Don't you just love Microsoft windows 10.

    Just tried this and this is what I got.

    Now I wonder what is a target of an invocation, I might have to get back to you in a year or so when I have worked it out.

    I love it, give me a 1960's Sinclair calculator that never went wrong

    Hi guys,

    It's just to update you about my current situation with the Windows Update assistant!

    I have uninstalled the Windows Update

    After which I opened my Microsoft 'Services' Console, found the Windows Update service, instead of leaving it on 'manual start' I disabled it! Then, within the same pop-up window, I went to the 'recovery' tab, and set it to 'take no action' (if you are with me for the moment).

    After that I opened the 'Dependencies' tab. There I found out that if I could disable the following system components - DCOM and RPC I would be able to get rid of the Windows Update forever!

    Microsoft however doesn't allow me to disable these two components!

    I wish I could tell the community what I did, but out of frustration I did so many different things and now the problem might have been solved since for the past 4 days the assistant has not been re-installing itself.  Deactivating did not work.

    I did what Andre Da Costa recommended (see below), but it did not seem to have done the trick.  I also removed manually two windows10updateassistant directory that existed in addition to the windows10upgraderAssistant directory.  I might not be able to update my system but for now I can use my computer without this annoyance.  I will see later if I can do a manual update.

    The Update Assistant is normally a click to run file stored on your desktop. Deleting it should remove the app.

    If not, press Windows key + R

    Type: appwiz.cpl

    Hit Enter

    Scroll through the list, select the Windows Update Assistant, then click uninstall on the command bar.

    Meanwhile I have resorted to the following whenever the Update springs up:

    1. Open up Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete)
    2. Under Background Processes, look for Windows Update Assistant (it should be processing away)
    3. Right click, End Task

    Doesn't solve a thing but at least you stave it away for now.

    said they had no idea which drivers were causing the issue. 

    They would have to look at your logs and know what to expect to see in them.   But it's not that difficult to use them to find useful clues that way.  Start with ReportingEvents.log and WindowsUpdate.log (after using PowerShell Get-WindowsUpdateLog).
