How Do I Block 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892)?

KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

Unfortunately, when I did a restart it bricked my system. I had a large windows logo on the screen and it just sat there.  I rebooted and was able to trigger a repair.  The repair said it was backing out the last update as it would not be completely installed.

With KB4056892 is Awaiting restart I did another restart and had the same problem.  At the end I was staring at a Windows logo that just sat there.

Again I triggered a repair and the system is now usable.  However, Windows Update still says: KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

How do I block it so it doesn't get installed if I have to reboot the machine?

    What about the possibility that the user has an unknown or undetectable interferer?   Otherwise the patch would not be offered.  So, extrapolating from that idea maybe just installing a known interferer would be enough to prevent the patch being installed.  E.g. the symptom looks like the install works but the apply phase does not.

    I have tried the workaround with the 'wushowhide.diagcab', but it fails to detect any hidden or pending updates? No help there.

     To use wushowhide.diagcab you must be online

    Tried backing up my W10 OS since Microsoft is having issues with this patch, and it shows Windows7 prompt....WTF Microsoft ?

    My machine won't load the update. I read about the incompatibility problem with some anti-virus apps, but I am using security center only. It reboots, says the update failed and then downloads it again, and again .....

    Similar issue....When update runs all my nic cards syop working,  can gwt on internet at all.  Have to go in and uninstall the update, then nic cards work.   BUT, update is still there waiting in restart, next time pc is restarted my nic cards stop working, repeat!    Have to find a solution for this!
