How Do I Block 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892)?

This is not the first time AMD Processors have caused problems with Windows Updates.

Meanwhile since ARM and INTEL are willing to spend a few bucks to protect their users WE are patched. Recent HP computers have switched to INTEL BECAUSE of that incident in 2010.

So THAT'S alright.

For the rest...watch your COMPUTER manufacturer's websites and Microsoft for updates and patches.

Doesn't look like Advanced Micro Devices plans to do **** for their users.

I found a way to get my HP computer going again after the update crash.  My CPU is 2.50 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ running at 64 bits.  I am running Windows 10 Pro with 6 GB of memory.

My computer was also locked up after the update.  The screen was black with a blue Microsoft logo in the middle of the screen.  I could not shut the computer down through the software and had to shut it down with the power switch.  This is what I did to get my computer working again:

1. With the computer shut off, I inserted the recovery disk flash drive into a USB port.  If you didn't make such a drive when you installed Windows 10 type "Windows 10 Recovery disk USB" for direction on how to create one
2. With the recovery drive still inserted, turn the computer on using the power switch.  A message will come up on your screen saying it is attempting to repair your computer.  If the aforementioned message does not appear, shut the computer off with the power switch, wait 30 seconds, and then turn your computer back on with the power switch.  It will take some time for the recovery disk to do its work, but don't touch your computer until your desktop appears.  If this step doesn't work, I don't have any other ideas no how to get this far in recovery.

3.  Next you have to hide the update file.  If it is hidden your computer should not try to install it again.  To hide the update you need to install and run the following piece of software "wushowhide".  You can find good information on how to hide a file at the following site:  http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-releases-tool-to-hide-or-block-unwanted-windows-10-updates/

On the net it says that you cannot hide files in Windows 10 Home.

yeah we had to do the same thing back in 2010 with XP SP3 and AMD.

That company is worthless.
