How Do I Block 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892)?

KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

Unfortunately, when I did a restart it bricked my system. I had a large windows logo on the screen and it just sat there.  I rebooted and was able to trigger a repair.  The repair said it was backing out the last update as it would not be completely installed.

With KB4056892 is Awaiting restart I did another restart and had the same problem.  At the end I was staring at a Windows logo that just sat there.

Again I triggered a repair and the system is now usable.  However, Windows Update still says: KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

How do I block it so it doesn't get installed if I have to reboot the machine?

    I'm sorry to have to report but you do not have an extensive Windows education because otherwise you'll know how to turn on or off or even auto the Windows Updates.

    Do this; 

    1. Press Win-R, type gpedit.msc, press Enter. This brings up the Local Group Policy Editor.
    2. Navigate the left pane as if it were File Explorer, to

    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Update. 3. Find and double-click Configure Automatic Updates see below...

               I probably dont have a big windows education but i know if you execute services.msc  locate window update service with a right click you can choose enable , manual , or automatic . On windows 10 fall creator  1709 your command do not work.

    Mine gets done: however; when I restart the laptop it crashes at the 4 pane window and doesn't do a darn thing. If it gets crashed, to get past it, it will eventually bring me back to a restore with one selection, from the stone ages. Everything I did to get to this point has to be repeated since it is not in the restore profile. I'm so tired.

    Hye

               For me i did i pass the tool  wushowide and did the first one not the one to hide it erase all the update in " installation historique " and restart the computer. and to make sure my windows update was ok i run the wu170509 to repair it. the update kb4056892 wasnt install probably because its not on the server anymore i think.

    P.S Dont forget to uninstal it before that

    just spent the best part of a day with MS tech support on this issue..no joy yet..they do no seem have a clue...he issue is slowly getting escalated..anyone for a mass tort case?
