Thanks. I have since had 3 separate Technicians from their tech support company call me to attempt a fix. They each spent a 3-4 hours on my system doing all the stuff I've seen laid out in some of these posts to no avail. After throwing in the towel the last tech told me that Msft will eventually put out a replacement upgrade.
My auto update finally stopped trying to install kb4056892 after 55 failed attempts so, at least I don't have to wake up to a rebooted system. Unlike others here I was fortunate in that the constantly failing update did not prevent my system from functioning normally.
