How Do I Block 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892)?

KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

Unfortunately, when I did a restart it bricked my system. I had a large windows logo on the screen and it just sat there.  I rebooted and was able to trigger a repair.  The repair said it was backing out the last update as it would not be completely installed.

With KB4056892 is Awaiting restart I did another restart and had the same problem.  At the end I was staring at a Windows logo that just sat there.

Again I triggered a repair and the system is now usable.  However, Windows Update still says: KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

How do I block it so it doesn't get installed if I have to reboot the machine?

    KB4056892 is not listed.  Do I hide all of them?

    Edit: Is anybody there? Does anybody care?  WTF am I supposed to do and WTF am I supposed to tell my clients?

    In Microsoft's "haste" to fix the cpu exploit issue they essential broke many user's machines due to their "flawed implementation" to the update process. Great job Microsoft.

    My OS has been going bonkers since trying to install their update. i.e. screensaver starting when disabled, pin access not working, Having sign in window every time even after disabling it.....Come on Microsoft

    Another way is to search for Windows Update, then Advanced, then Pause Updates. That will stop it for 35 days, Maybe enough time for a newer update that works. 

    I have update KB4056892 waiting to update. Every time I try I get stuck on the blue windows logo. Then I have to go into diagnostic mode and revert to a restore point. 

    I have Windows 10 Pro with an older AMD Athlon chip

    Hi, it's bricked several of ours as well. We've had to hide the update for now until MS sort themselves out.
