How Do I Block 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892)?

KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

Unfortunately, when I did a restart it bricked my system. I had a large windows logo on the screen and it just sat there.  I rebooted and was able to trigger a repair.  The repair said it was backing out the last update as it would not be completely installed.

With KB4056892 is Awaiting restart I did another restart and had the same problem.  At the end I was staring at a Windows logo that just sat there.

Again I triggered a repair and the system is now usable.  However, Windows Update still says: KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

How do I block it so it doesn't get installed if I have to reboot the machine?

Nope....Been reading the replies regarding AMD chips. I'm running Intel chips, W10 Home. PC running ok with failed download, other than it doesn't recognize my PIN, and Microsoft keeps asking to verify with text code. Seems to be locked in this loop.

It still shows, but doesn’t try to load.

I also, at the same time, uninstalled the failures to update that were listed in settings>view updates>uninstall. I don’t know if that had anything to do with wushowhide working, though.

Anyone found a fix..  I cant get my start button working..  and numerous other apps

Yep format and install windows 10 from scratch. When desktop comes up use the hide utility asap. Unckeck amd options to hide. Everything is fine on my pc now. I thought my hhd was failing. Cost me 3 hra of my time. I cannot believe Microsoft can get away with releasing without testing. If you own amd x4 965 cpu you must do this or hdd willncrawl, start menu will not work. Edge browser will go into a recovery loop.

    >Did you use WUT and allow it to delete all downloaded files?

I ran it and allowed it to do whatever it wanted.

I was then able to hide KB4056892.

    I then ran:

    net stop wuauserv

    rmdir %windir%\softwaredistribution  /s /q

    net start wuauserv

But KB4056892 is still showing as pending restart in Windows Update
