How Do I Block 2018-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4056892)?

KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

Unfortunately, when I did a restart it bricked my system. I had a large windows logo on the screen and it just sat there.  I rebooted and was able to trigger a repair.  The repair said it was backing out the last update as it would not be completely installed.

With KB4056892 is Awaiting restart I did another restart and had the same problem.  At the end I was staring at a Windows logo that just sat there.

Again I triggered a repair and the system is now usable.  However, Windows Update still says: KB4056892 is Awaiting restart

How do I block it so it doesn't get installed if I have to reboot the machine?

    I'm now considering KB4058258 (OS Build 16299.214), apparently MS say:-

    “Resolves the issue reported by some customers on a small subset of older AMD processors where the processor entered an unbootable state after installing January 3, 2018—KB4056892 (OS Build 16299.192

    How do I install .214 on a PC that entered an unbootable state after KB4056892!!**!!

    My Notebook HP (window 10 home) as well. still unresolved last 30days despite following every instructions from Microsoft site.

    Mine is Intel not AMD and i am comfertable to do Formating my SDD and reboot from USB, Any other suggessions?

    I am now at version 1709 build 16299.201 with no pending updates.

    ok had same issues here is what i did and for me it worked like a charm.

    Formatted the hdd, reinstalled windows 10 via usb install media

    Then physically checked for updates

    First it installed all the usual updates,

    Then downloaded the KB4056892 PLEASE note this update is downloaded in 2 stages. And also installs in 2 stages.

    And then restarted and hey presto 🤗 worked like a charm

    Cpu AMD turion x 2 64
