Now I'm just an average Joe, not Microsoft Certified in any way, but I solved the 'no printing' problem,
at least for now. I Uninstalled the "Security Update for Adobe Flash Player as well as "Update Microsoft (KB4560960)." After restarting the computer to apply these changes, I found they did not
automatically reinstall as I was concerned they might, but there is an alert showing "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes." Anyhow, I just tried printing a random Word document plus a PDF, and IT WORKS!
I had spent hours earlier today trying everything I could think of to get past the issue so many are having of a
doc showing up in the printer queue then immediately disappearing, but to no avail. Then, after reading through all the comments/replies in this thread, and discovering there is a KNOWN PROBLEM with Microsoft's Update (KB4560960),
I decided to uninstall it and see what happens. Thanks to all who added comments/input!
Here's HOW I UNINSTALLed those 2 Updates and got the printer to print again.
- Click the Windows Icon (bottom left of screen)
- Click the Gear Symbol for Settings and the Windows Settings Box opens
- Select Update and Security, and the Box that appears should show Windows Update
- I selected View Update History, which was the 3th item down under 'Check for Updates,' and that box then opened
- At the top, I Clicked on Uninstall Updates, and another box opened showing a list of all recent updates
- I scrolled to the bottom to the Microsoft Windows section, and that's where I saw both the "Security Update for Adobe Flash Player as well as "Update Microsoft (kb4560960)."
- I Right-clicked on each of them and then Clicked Uninstall
a. Note, the Adobe Flash Player update was removed quickly; but the Windows Update (KB4560960) took a while to completely uninstall
- Finally, the box appeared stating the computer had to be Restarted to apply these changes, which I did.
a. During Reboot, it showed some updates were being applied; and that took it another while to finish. But when I looked back in the list of Updates (seen via step 5), neither the Adobe or (KB4560960) now showed up.
- I then opened a Word document and successfully printed is, as well as a PDF from an email someone had sent me.
As I stated above, I'm not Microsoft certified, and it's up to them to FIX what obviously is a KNOWN ISSUE!! However, if you'd like to follow these steps I've taken to at least temporarily correct the 'no printing' issue,
do so at your own risk. I can't make any guarantees, nor do I know what other items exist in that (KB4560960) update that might make our computers vulnerable until Microsoft remedies the errors/glitches
it contains. Let's hope it's SOON!
God Bless!
