Print job goes into queue and instantly disappears with nothing being printed

For some reason my system has stopped working correctly with one of my printers. The system sees the printer as being connected and available and when I print the job goes to the print queue. However it then instantly disappears and nothing is printed. Can someone advise?

The printer with the problem is an Epson Stylus Photo 1290. The printer was working a couple of days ago and the only thing I can think that has happened is that there was an automatic windows update.

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit version 15063.726

I have tried: starting and stopping the print spooler, uninstalling the driver, running the trouble shooter, rebooting ...

Any help welcome.

Note: 28/11/2017 - I have had an email from Epson who confirm the problem is caused by a change introduced by Microsoft. As a result they have no fix for the problem and say that if I wish to continue using the latest version of Windows 10 then I need to buy a new printer or wait for Microsoft to introduce a change (which may never happen). This is hugely disappointing and is also not very environmentally friendly.

     Just wait for MS to come up with a solution. As they acknowledged the problem already, I think they are already on it & it shouldn't take long i.m.o.

    Same here - Brother MFC-495CW.....just stopped worked. Same issues as this thread.

     Same here had to do some sort of update the other day and now my MFC 5890 wont work.  Im not very tech savvy either so very annoying !!!

    We have Brother MFC-790CW. The connection is wireless.

    It works for other computers on the network.

    Suddenly it stopped printing. We can see the file posted to

    the printer queue and then disappear. We paused the printer

    and saw that indeed it went to the print queue.

    We turned the printer and computer off and back on several times.

    The printer is recognized by the computer because it shows the

    printer ink graphic. The scanner also works fine.

    We thought the spooler might be the culpret so we got into

    command mode as follows:

    1. typed "command" in search area.
    2. Right clicked and selected "run as administrator"
    3. In DOS mode typed "net stop spooler" the response was "spooler stopped"
    4. Then typed "net start spooler" and the response was "spooler started"

    I thought another printer might have been selected but files go into the correct queue.

    Considered going to last backup but unacceptable option was to delete many programs

    including Flash, Photoshop, and others. Decided not to do that.

    Suggestions anyone?
