Print job goes into queue and instantly disappears with nothing being printed

For some reason my system has stopped working correctly with one of my printers. The system sees the printer as being connected and available and when I print the job goes to the print queue. However it then instantly disappears and nothing is printed. Can someone advise?

The printer with the problem is an Epson Stylus Photo 1290. The printer was working a couple of days ago and the only thing I can think that has happened is that there was an automatic windows update.

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit version 15063.726

I have tried: starting and stopping the print spooler, uninstalling the driver, running the trouble shooter, rebooting ...

Any help welcome.

Thanks,

Chris.

Note: 28/11/2017 - I have had an email from Epson who confirm the problem is caused by a change introduced by Microsoft. As a result they have no fix for the problem and say that if I wish to continue using the latest version of Windows 10 then I need to buy a new printer or wait for Microsoft to introduce a change (which may never happen). This is hugely disappointing and is also not very environmentally friendly.

Based on your post on printing, I think that the Microsoft Virtual Agent can help you troubleshoot your issue. It'll walk you through the right troubleshooting steps based on the specific problem you're facing.

Please let us know if this solved your issue.

When is the fix expected to be done?

The problem has been around for the best part of 2 weeks and I have lost my colour printer because of a bug in Microsoft's software ... please tell me there is some light at the end of this tunnel.

Also how do I roll back just the printer driver? There is no Epson driver for this it is using some Microsoft driver. Can you provide the details to roll back the problem software please?

    Thanks.

As of now, we still have the same news. We'll let you know if there's anything new. You may check the same link we've provided you from time to time for any update.

Since you've mentioned that rolling back to the previous version of Windows made your printer work, as well as before the driver update, you may consider rolling back the driver to see if this will make your printer work again.

Let us know how it works.

    That's fine, Chris.

    We've got some news!

You may check this out. It's about the recent Windows update which made Epson printers to stop working.

Just to make sure, have you tried running your printer's installation disc again? If yes, is the result the same?

You may also want to check on your printer manufacturer if your specific printer is affected on this.

Let us know if you have other queries.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm afraid I do not have another computer running windows 10 that has not been updated.
