Print job goes into queue and instantly disappears with nothing being printed

For some reason my system has stopped working correctly with one of my printers. The system sees the printer as being connected and available and when I print the job goes to the print queue. However it then instantly disappears and nothing is printed. Can someone advise?

The printer with the problem is an Epson Stylus Photo 1290. The printer was working a couple of days ago and the only thing I can think that has happened is that there was an automatic windows update.

I am running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit version 15063.726

I have tried: starting and stopping the print spooler, uninstalling the driver, running the trouble shooter, rebooting ...

Any help welcome.

Thanks,

Chris.

Note: 28/11/2017 - I have had an email from Epson who confirm the problem is caused by a change introduced by Microsoft. As a result they have no fix for the problem and say that if I wish to continue using the latest version of Windows 10 then I need to buy a new printer or wait for Microsoft to introduce a change (which may never happen). This is hugely disappointing and is also not very environmentally friendly.

Based on your post on printing, I think that the Microsoft Virtual Agent can help you troubleshoot your issue. It'll walk you through the right troubleshooting steps based on the specific problem you're facing.

Please let us know if this solved your issue.

    Good Day to you all,

After 6 days agonising to resolve the printing issue, I have managed to get my printer going again (with remote assistance from LOndon).

I went into Microsoft Update Catalogue and selected the last one that is appropriate to my Windows 10 Version 1903 and updated. Here is the link.

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4567512

I pray that it works for you. Keep safe.

    Kind Regards from Down Under

I too am having problems printing. Microsoft did a Windows update yesterday and now my print disappears from the print queue without printing anything.

My printer is Brother DCP-197C and connected by USB cable.

Didn't have this problem 3 days ago when I printed something (from same laptop and printer).

I have an old laptop I'm going to try using.

Too late for me as I had reset Windows, I can't roll back and will  have to wait for the patch to fix the patch.

Surely somebody in MS support could open a post that would get a high SEO rank and help us find these solutions before we, the people who pay for the big salaries and share options of MS staff, become so frustrated that we want to chuck the computer out the window.

I'm in exactly the same situation. This stream is normally monitored by Microsoft. Some short feedback on when to expect a solution for this would be very kind of them... But silence everywhere :(

    Hello,

Walk through to problem solve did not help.

Your final suggestion  to approach the printer manufacturer is rather offensive as my friend with his laptop without the offending update can print without any issues using the same USB connection.

I wish I could reverse the update.

    Thank you.
