I have track numbers in front of some of my song names (not title) in my music libarary.  How do I get rid of them.  They are not in the "name" in WMP.  I try to right click and rename and that doesn't work.  I try going through properties into details and delete numbers in front of name, but it doesn't stay changed.  Tried to edit in WMP and that doesn't work.  Nothing I do permenantly changes the name (not title).

Help!!!!!!

Hi Ric.   So sorry to hear that you have the flu.  You take really good care because this flu going around is bad stuff.  Ok, for my music......I checked and most of these songs are mp3's.  There's one I found was wma but none are the wav.  I have figured out how to get around those bad boys.  But.....this is really puzziling me.  I have downloaded over 1500 songs and these are the only ones.  I believe I copied these from CD's............but then there's whole lot more I copied from CD's.  Just these 19 are giving me fits.

    Hi Ric,

I just tried coping song to documents, that was so far so good.  Then when I moved it back into music file it added the number and of course indicated that it was "same song two".   This is too frigging crazy.

Ah you're getting ahead of me there... With the song copied in documents can you check the properties - General and Details tabs - what is it showing as T ype of File? (General) and Title? (Details) -

Ok......copied two over to docs.  One is a wma and title under properties is just name of song.....no number.  The other is an mp3 and again....title is just name of song, no number.   Now.....under general tab, at the top it has number in front of song name with mp3 sign in front of box and same with wma.

Thanks - this is certainly a bit unusual. Usually mp3 and WMA properties can be edited by the methods you have used. Using a copy of 'Proud Mary' - try altering the properties to those I have given to my version and see if it sticks.... Just the details as shown - if it changes back we'll try something different.
