Yes - that's OK - I'm hoping the items you've hidden will not appear this time - if so and you're certain they are not needed you can go through the folders and delete them. The reason you cannot mouse delete in WMP is the complex library structure in W7

• you have the 'explorer' Music folder AND the 'My Music' folder which contains the original file. Items deleted from the explorer library still show up in WMP but cannot be deleted. So it messes up the library.

I'll advise on how to delete the hidden stuff if the WMP library is looking better.

Ok......however my right click mouse was working just fine before the restore?????  Also, wmp where can i hide my music?  The duplicates are NOT in my windows library.  All these problems are in wmp.

Sorry this is proving so problematic... can you just clarify - is the delete option in WMP absent on any track or just certain ones? Its not possible to delete a track from WMP that has been moved or altered in 'explorer' but any other track should have the 'delete' (either from library only - or from library and computer) - You don't have a 'hide' option in WMP - just in the folders.

I think maybe you should look to making sure your music photos etc. are backed up off the pc just in case there's a system problem going on here.

Ok.................this is what I have:  I cannot delete ANY song track in wmp.  So, I moved all my music into a "playlist" thinking that might help and it does not.  I still cannot delete ANY song track in WMP.  I right click mouse, then delete and it asks me if I want to delete in library only or library and computer.  I chose library only, then clicked ok.   Nothing happens!  No error message, no nothing. 

Now...........I can sent a song to the trash in music library on computer.  Instead of deleting it, it asks now if I want to move it to trash.  This change  of delete to trash also happened at the same time the other Sh#$ happened in wmp after restoring it.

So......................I have a question.  If I restore my computer to a date prior to all this, will it put WMP back to what it was at that time also?  Cause, this is getting ridiculous.  It just keeps snowballing.  I would rather just have the duplicate song tracks than go through all of this.

Please advise.

I have to leave for a while but will be back this afternoon and I will back up all my music in my computer library.

Ric and Janet, this is a terrific thread to read. I will not interject, as I strongly believe that there should only be ONE instructor at a time. I came in to the Forum only to look around and see if an issue I had just resolved had previously been covered, and I got thoroughly involved reading this delightful thread. Janet, I am sure that this has been less than delightful for you! But there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Janet, my fondest wish is that you know that Windows Media Player is a PLAYER. It is only a player. It does not manage your Music Files. In WMP, the only thing that you can do that will destroy your music is to tell WMP to Delete a song from the Library AND your computer. You can Delete from Libraries all you want. Well, actually, if I understand your missives correctly, currently you aren't able to delete ...  :(

You are not the first person to struggle with Libraries in WMP and you will not be the last.
