I have track numbers in front of some of my song names (not title) in my music libarary.  How do I get rid of them.  They are not in the "name" in WMP.  I try to right click and rename and that doesn't work.  I try going through properties into details and delete numbers in front of name, but it doesn't stay changed.  Tried to edit in WMP and that doesn't work.  Nothing I do permenantly changes the name (not title).

Help!!!!!!

Hi = yes - I've generally steered clear of registry tweaks. I was trying to find one back when the I first switched to W10 but nobody seemed to have figured one out at that point. The security tab fix for Folder art did the trick up to a point and that was the only issue for me really - I'm not worried about how it looks in the player but I hated those white folder borders! Anyway - I'm getting quite used to PC life without WMP. It is still handy to have it on the old W7 laptop though. I also have 'Audacity' on there for audio editing tasks. - Regards, R.

Hi Janet - you're most welcome - thanks for putting up with me too, when I definitely wasn't at my best! I am feeling considerably better now than I did this time last week, and I have finally stopped coughing - thank goodness. That was definitely affecting my concentration.

The (free) programs regularly recommended here are MusicBee and MediaMonkey - I tried out Music Bee and it looked pretty good but I'm not sure either of those can import  CD. NCH's disc software is supposed to be good but I really don't like the website because it is full of distracting 'Download' buttons - very easy to inadvertently download something you don't want. There used to be a malware issue too but recent reports seem to verify this element has been cleaned up.

As you are not keen on iTunes (which I fully understand - it's a bit top heavy and really only necessary if (as in my case) one is running an apple device I think you will just have to research this one - see what may suit you best. - Regards, Ric.

The web site says to find or write 'PlayerModeAlbumArtSelected' in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/Preferences and set the Value to '0'. Then find 'ShowAlbumArt' and set the value to '1'.

Below is a screenshot of the current values in my Win 7 Registry:

Album Art is displaying at full resolution in 'WMP Now Playing' with the window expanded to full size. Shrink the window and the art is cropped, not shrunk.

    Hope that helps!

Hi guys.  Thank you so so much for all your help Ric and Cyberguy654.  I agree that WMP is getting to be a dinasour and I think there will be a day when Windows 7 will not longer be supported either and I will then be forced to upgrade.  I'm lazy when it comes to sitting on my computer for hours to change everything............but...................it is what it is.  Back to my question to both you guys.  What software out there is better than WMP?  Yes, I too mostly stream my music ........from Amazon, but there is an occasion when one of my friends have a CD with some good music that I might want to rip........but not necessarily a requirement on the software.  I have read about so many of the softwares that I am going crazy.  Of course, everyone thinks theirs is the best.  Now that you know what I have gone through the last week or so, what would you recommend?  One that easy to use and easy to transfer music from flash back and forth and songs streamed from Amazon.

Thanks guys....................you are both fantastic.   If I have any more problems, how can I get back with you?  I can't use anyone else cause this has been such a snafu that no one else would get it and I can't explain it all to them.....omg!!!!

Please get back to me, ok?
